Adult Advocate - Full Time

Prevail, Inc. provides crisis intervention and restorative support services for adult, adolescent and child survivors of crime and abuse to residents of Hamilton and surrounding counties. Prevail is seeking a full-time adult advocate responsible for intervention and prevention services for victims of crime, including domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include individual and group facilitation.

Duties:
Working in conjunction with staff to provide intervention and follow-up services to clients as needed, which may include (but are not limited to): intake assessment, community referrals and resources, court advocacy, assistance in filing protective orders, completing safety and action plans, and inter/intra-agency networking and advocacy on behalf of the victim.
Facilitate weekly support groups. Provide individual services on an as needed basis.
Maintain and update group curriculum, identifying resources, materials and speakers.
Serve as a reference guide for the community in the areas of victim resources and violence prevention, by direct referrals for clients, and through public presentations and participation in community organizations.
Complete 24-hour on-call crisis line shifts and providing backup service to the child advocacy centers as requested.
Collaborate with Prevail staff, other agencies, groups, organizations, and individuals to identify and develop prevention/intervention services for victims of crime and other populations within the community, as needed.
Represent the agency in public and private presentations to increase awareness and educate audiences as to victim-related issues.


Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field; or a combination of experience, education and/or training.

  • An outline of your learning goals for the placement.
  • Hours/days per week you would be available.
  • Contact information for your school liason, placement coordinator, or professor.
  • Any information about your school requirements.
  • Approximate start and end date of your placement.

We ask that interns complete a minimum of 15 hours per week over a 16 week semester. 

We accept Fall, Spring, Summer and full-year placements.

It is preferable to have a site visit by your school official (whether in person or via technology) and to have an evalution tool to use at the completion of your placement.
