Are you a shelter?

Prevail is not a shelter. For women and families in immediate danger, we work with a shelter who can house them.

How many people do you serve annually?

In 2015 we worked with 2,721 unduplicated clients.

Are you a legal service?

Prevail advocates are not attorneys. We refer clients in need of legal services to other local agencies.

Are you part of a national organization?

Prevail is an independent organization serving clients in central Indiana.

Do you offer psychotherapy?

No. Prevail does provide support groups, safety planning, assessments and case management among other services.

Do you offer Drug & Alcohol Programs?

No. We refer clients to other local agencies who provide these services.

Do I have to be from Hamilton County to use Prevail services?

No! We will provide services upon request to any individual. Because of our location, the majority of our clients do come from Hamilton County.

What do you charge for your services?

All of Prevail’s services are provided for free. The last thing a victim of crime or abuse needs is to be denied services due to lack of funds.

How are you funded?

Prevail’s funding comes from a variety of sources. Presently about 50% comes from various governmental entities – federal, state and local. The remainder comes from charitable contributions.

What types of donations do you accept?

Prevail’s primary need is for monetary contributions to support our programmatic mission. We occasionally have need for other specific items or services. For more information please see our How You Can Help section.

Yes, Prevail is a 501(c) 3 public charity.
